Enstars boy ranking!!!!!!!! Hopefully I can fill this out pretty soon, because I want this to be my introductory thoughts and first impressions about each of them before I get too far into the game. It'll be fun to compare and contrast later after I get to know them all better. Also I doubt that I'll genuinely dislike any of them, so if I talk shit about your best boy I don't really mean it, I promise! u_u

back to home
back to enstars main

Eichi Tenshouin - Eichi seems very much like a pretty, princely type of boy! Very fitting for the leader of a top idol agency. I honestly don't have too much to say about him so far, but not because I dislike him. It just feels like I already have a pretty good grasp of what he's like! I've played almost to the end of the first chapter of the story. I'm sure he has his own share of secrets and an interesting backstory, based on how he was talking with Hajime. His vibes are pretty solid. Nothing exceptional, but nothing bad to say about him, either!

Ranking - B tier

Wataru Hibiki - This man is so annoying LMAO. I say this with love. I like loud, tacky characters, but I usually need to get to know them better before I really like them. His laugh is the best thing I've ever heard in my life. He reminds me a little bit of Nagi from Idolish7, who at first I didn't have any strong feelings for, but ended up growing on me in a way that kind of shocked me. I can't dislike him, even if I wanted to - he charms you in a way that you can't defend against, lmfao. He just seems so authentic that you can't hate him.

Ranking - B tier

Tori Himemiya - Back when I knew literally nothing about Enstars (not that I know that much now, lol), I assumed that Tori would be my favorite character based on him being pink and cute, which are basically my only requirements for a character to be my favorite. I still think I'll probably end up liking him a lot. He seems pretty interesting, and I'm a sucker for cutesy characters that have a hidden sharper or more calculating side to them. The dichotomy of him being such a new idol but having so much fame seems like it would be stressful for him.

Ranking - B tier

Yuzuru Fushimi - I have absolutely nothing against you king, but you... are boring... you are just a butler and sadly that is an Occupation not a personality... listen I'm sure you are a very nice fellow but it's got to be a no from me today. Sorry :(

Ranking - D tier

Hokuto Hidaka - Not my type of character, but I don't have anything against him. I'm sure as the story unfolds and it goes deeper into his tense relationship with fame and his parents that I'll warm up to him. That's the sort of theme I want to explore with some of my OCs, so I'll probably be paying closer attention to him and how he's written later on.

Ranking - C tier

Subaru Akehoshi - It seems I am not immune to the obligatory red/orange-haired genki idol boy that all of these franchises need to have. Subaru is so cute!! He seems a little spoiled but not in an unpleasant way. He's a very energetic and excitable boy. So far he and the rest of Trickstar seem like they get along really well and I'm excited to see their goofy little antics together as the rest of the story unfolds.

Ranking - A tier

Makoto Yuuki - He just seems so nice, idk (ToT) Like he just seems like a very nice and sweet boy. I could see myself really liking him. His little exchanges with Subaru in the main story were very cute. His glasses are also very cute. I realize that 80% of my rankings are just saying "oh he seems cute and nice" but that's how I feel lmao. I'm putting him in B tier for now, I'd like to see more of him soon!

Ranking - B tier

Mao Isara - Aww, he's sweet,, Idk, just based on looks alone I expected him to be kind of rowdy and rebellious, but he's doing his best to take on a lot of responsibility and make sure that things run smoothly. I can really admire that. I hope he doesn't burn himself out, but it seems like he's aware enough of how much work he's got to do that he can complain about it, and he can still laugh and have fun, too. I just hope that he's able to stay afloat and has people around him who are willing to share his burdens!

Ranking - B tier

Chiaki Morisawa - He's alright! I get it, he's the leader in the hero-themed unit, so that automatically calls to mind a certain type of character. The 'hero of justice' angle can definitely be charming, and I do like characters that play into that sometimes, but he just seems a little too generic for me to really like him. He seems sweet, though! And I found his comment about not liking the boring, sanitized idol work to be interesting. He is a boy who loves to take action!!

Ranking - C tier

Kanata Shinkai - I definitely can't call Kanata 'generic,' that's for sure. Idol franchises sure love to have at least one non-human type character, huh? (Looking at you, Yohane Love Live.) He feels like he's a mermaid trapped on land... I don't know if that's what they're going for, but that's the vibe I got. The fact that he's not used to his peace sign signature yet is pretty cute. I feel like he has the opportunity to grow on me if it turns out he has some more emotional depth to his character later on in the story.

Ranking - C tier

Tetora Nagumo - An energetic and excitable boy! He's very cute, and honestly reminds me a little bit of Naruko from Yowamushi Pedal, who I adore. Man, I feel bad giving all of these RYUSEITAI boys C's so far, but idk!! I totally have nothing against them. I think a tokusatsu-themed idol group is so charming, too. I think I just need to see them in action (haha get it?) more before I open up to them more!

Ranking - C tier

Midori Takamine - Oh my God (sob emoji) this poor boy just accidentally signed up to be an idol?? He's just a sad little vegetable guy..... not really, I wouldn't typecast him like that, especially not after he just said he doesn't like it. But oh my gosh... Idk, I feel for him. Not to call him Hashtag Relatable, but he's tired and kind of complains a lot, but still wants to do his best and work hard... I'm surprised by how much I like him after just one short little scene. Another very sweet boy.

Ranking - B tier

Shinobu Sengoku - Alright, at first I thought he was kind of boring, but upon a quick re-read he's quite earnest and sweet. The ninja thing might get tiresome after a while, but in small doses it'll probably stay charming. I will just have to stick him in the C tier with almost everybody else. I swear I feel bad, but, a C is average, right?? So I'm not being mean, I'm just being neutral >_>

Ranking - C tier

Hiiro Amagi - I'm surprised by how much I like Hiiro, actually. Girl, what?? You want to destroy all idols?? Wild. I'm sure it's because he has beef with his brother (*cue flashbacks to Idolish7*) that will come up later and be both intensely dramatic and soul crushing. He's oblivious and kind-hearted, which comes across as overbearing, and pairing that with his lack of understanding of modern day culture makes him a very Unique individual. I love him lmao. He is aggressively endearing; terminally delightful, if you will.

Ranking - S tier

Aira Shiratori - Oh my God you are my everything. I picked him as my starter boy and I definitely made the right choice. He is so god damn cute I can't stand it. He reminds me of Nico Yazawa from Love Live, who is one of my favorite characters. I like how excited he is about idols and how into them he is; characters who nerd out about their interests are so endearing to me. He also feels like somebody you want to root for, because he works so hard... they all better be kind to my boy Aira. ラブ~い!!

Ranking - S+ tier

Mayoi Ayase - His intro story felt like it took an hour. This man knocked an entire year off my lifespan. It legitimately gave me a headache. Is he good? Genuinely, is he all good??? He sure is a character alright. Let nobody ever say that Mayoi Ayase is uninteresting. He will 100% be one of my favorite characters but I will be bashing him and complaining about him at every opportunity. You cannot put a man with this many issues in front of me and expect me to not pick him as one of my favorites. He looks like he eats drywall.

Ranking - F tier as a human being, probably S tier in my own taste

Tatsumi Kazehaya - Through no fault of his own, Tatsumi ended up being the last member in a unit with three other characters that made an immediate impact on me. This isn't to say that I don't like him; he seems very kind and thoughtful, and seems like he has a lot of advice that can really make a difference in other peoples' lives. I don't think he'll be one of my favorites, but I appreciate him a lot. He seems very dependable, and Alkaloid needs a more mature/older type to keep them on the right track, I think.

Ranking - B tier

Nagisa Ran - I can't find anything about him to complain about, he just doesn't quite do it for me! He's tall and quiet and sort of cool/mysterious, I guess. Like I said, I'm sure I don't dislike him, he just doesn't feel very engaging from his little intro story... I didn't notice anything that really jumped out at me! Sorry king, giving you a solid C.

Ranking - C tier

Hiyori Tomoe - The Tamaki Suoh syndrome is strong with this one. He seems likeable enough, just slightly obnoxious, but not as if he means to be. I don't have much to say about him!! He also seems like a character that will grow on me. I'll put him in C tier for now, but it's probably hovering right between B and C. [EDIT: I have since bumped him up to B tier.]

Ranking - B tier

Ibara Saegusa - Gaslight girlboss real??? He's insaneeee!! I absolutely love that. I love that he literally is like 'haha, I am so smart, I will chew you up and spit you out. Fall in love with me so I can steal your job!' He feels like if you took a 4D chess type mfer but also made them loud and stupid, which is a really excellent combo. Looking forward to seeing the horrible atrocities he will inevitably commit.

Ranking - A tier

Jun Sazanami - He's nice! I can see bits of a fun personality peeking out from his interactions. He seems a little... like, not tsundere, but kinda, "aw shucks, guess I have no choice but to help you out." I know I will like him later because I have been playing Trap for You 800 times a day since I heard it, so at the very least he is in my wheelhouse because that song is insanely good. However, I like Hiyori a bit more, so Hiyori gets a B and Jun gets a C.

Ranking - C+ tier

Shu Itsuki - I cheated a bit and poked around on Shu's wiki page, and also accidentally read bits of the original story where his traumatic event takes place. I know I will really like him and care about him a lot... characters with alters or dissociative elements to them always hit me right in my heart, and they are very dear to me. Beyond that, he also just seems really endearing in terms of personality. It might be early, but I'm going to give him an S tier... his situation reminds me too much of another character with a doll alter that means a lot to me.

Ranking - S tier

Mika Kagehira - The whole time I was reading his intro story, I was just like... is he okay?? Is there somebody hurting him?? Do I need to step in and make sure that he's safe?? I'm assuming that the 'Teach' he's talking about is Shu. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now and assume that he and Mika, whatever their tenuous relationship is, are used to each other and it works for them... but I've got my eyes open. Mika seems like an interesting person, and I'd like to learn more about him. I'm a sucker for Kansai dialects, too.

Ranking - A tier

Hinata Aoi - I've seen Ouran High School Host Club. I already know that cheerful, orange-haired anime twins have terrible deepset emotional issues that they bury and deny. You can't fool me, Ensemble Stars. Anyway, Hinata seems like a very hard worker, and I'm sure he cares for his brother a lot and wants to do right by him. Overall a very good boy who I know will have a breakdown sooner or later. King, I love and support you as your own individual self, I promise...

Ranking - B tier

Yuta Aoi - The repressed emotional distress is PALPABLE in this one. I can tell that he low-key feels like a burden and a 'budget' version of his brother who does all the hard work... but he still spends each day smiling and acts like nothing is the matter. Not healthy!! Talk about your problems!! Maybe it's just the fact that I could feel the stress emanating from him moreso than his brother, but I felt more attached to him than Hinata just based on their intros.

Ranking - A tier

Rinne Amagi - Local man with gambling addiction makes an ass of himself. Oh my God, who talks like this?? I kind of love him actually. I do love characters who just say shit with no thoughts whatsoever, bonus points if they're annoying. He was talking about Hiiro with fondness, so maybe he's not such a bad guy after all... or maybe he is, I don't know yet. Definitely an engaging antagonist/source of conflict.

Ranking - A tier, subject to change

HiMERU - Another character built to tug on my heartstrings with a personality trait that is very important to me. Characters who do try to adjust to societal expectations and have some difficulty with it, but aren't written as being ostracized by others or looking down on themselves for it, are very rare. And the addition of dealing with depersonalization/dissociation... aaaaaa. Gosh. I really want to learn more about HiMERU, whenever it's a comfortable subject to approach. His voice is very pleasant to listen to.

Ranking - B tier

Kohaku Oukawa - He is very sweet! Enstars seems to have a lot of 'doesn't know things about society or interacting with people' characters. He seems to have obviously come from a really traditional and religious family, so I imagine lots of things will be a little weird for him, but he doesn't seem too put off by it, which is good. I will give him a solid B for his pink hair and good attitude!

Ranking - B tier

Niki Shiina - I love you I love you I love you wtf. Holy shit you are so cute and your voice is so cute. Oh my God. I want to cook a whole bunch of yummy food with him and then sit down and eat all of it. God he's so cute I actually cannot stand it, he puts a huge smile on my face just hearing him talk. He and Rinne sound like besties who also sort of can't stand each other which is always a very fun dynamic. Niki my beloved. I am here for you.

Ranking - S tier

Rei Sakuma - I.... huh?? How do I like him so much after talking to him for less than a minute? He just has this Vibe that really works for me. Mature and knowledgeable with a lot of love behind his words, but also, he is a Mysterious Vampire, so he says weird things that sound kind of cringe but in a cool way... hm. I like him. I want to trust him (even though he told me not to LOL). I think he's a very good guy and would be a very interesting person to have a conversation with.

Ranking - A tier (might be a bit hasty but whatever)

Kaoru Hakaze - This is like the fourth time I'm saying this, but oh my God I'm in love with you. Why are all the blonde ones in this game my favorites. Characters with crushes mean the world to me, and not only does he have a crush, he has a crush on the MC. He's so easily embarrassed and flustered, it's so cute I'm gonna explode. I kind of want to tease him about it, but also I would get insanely embarrassed and die if he talked to me, so we're even. I simply adore him more than words can say.

Nazuna Nito - I cheated and looked him up on the wiki, and I love him more than life itself. Oh my gosh. Reading about him made me want to bawl my eyes out. He's so kind-hearted and strong to have dealt with all the things he did, and then to come out the other side happier, healthier, and full of compassion for other people. Also I heard his solo song the other day and almost cried for real. Nazuna nii-chan I love you ;_;

Hajime Shino - Hajime is so cute it's almost sickening (/j). I need to actually write his blurb later lol
