KOINUKO'S
ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Jan. 26th, 2021 - Jan. 26th, 2022
Well... wow. Time sure flies, doesn't it...? In some cases, it does, and
in other cases it seems to drag on and on without end... but in this
case, it certainly doesn't feel as though I've been maintaining this
site for an entire year now. It's kind of crazy... back when I started
this site, I never would have imagined it would grow into something of
this size, with this much content on it, but it has!
I've learned a lot about HTML, CSS, and even a little bit of hodgepodge,
in-the-moment JavaScript since I started my first NeoCities site - yes,
there was another (short-lived) webpage that I created before this one!
However, I shut it down and instead opted to put my focus onto a
personal homepage on January 26th, 2021. I'm so glad that I did... this
has been one of the most freeing endeavors I've ever tackled, and I'd
like to say that I'm sticking to my guns fairly well in terms of
updating!
Lovingly crafted in Microsoft Expression Web 4, my site is approximately
940 MB, all told, although I'm certain I could clean
out some of my unused files - of which there are 5,077,
contained in 285 different folders.
koinuko.neocities.org has a whopping 170,752 views,
which it's gotten thanks to the 173 (?!) people who
follow the site and have watched it evolve over the course of
3,515 updates. Wow!! All of that's a long ways away from what
this website started out as... which was a
completely black page with this message on it:
(this was the image, for anybody curious)
Since
then, I can happily say that my website has evolved quite a bit. In
fact, we can take a look at a few different stages of its evolution...!
^ June of 2021
(my very first layout was just the main section, without the floating
bits.)
^ July of 2021
^ September 24th, 2021 - switched to koinuko v 1.2, baby blue!
So... in all that time, what have I accomplished on this website?
Well... lots! I created a personal space for me to enjoy myself and talk
about whatever my dear little heart desires without worrying about what
other people think of me. I found plenty of other amazing websites to
explore and interesting people to read about. I made a webring, after
hours and hours of grueling effort... and people joined it! I
commissioned somebody for the first time! I (sort of?) learned how float
works... kind of!! I've done a lot, and I'm really, really proud of
myself...! Plus, I had loads of fun in the process!!
Some of my favorite pages I've made over the past year:
- My Love Live card collection.
It's extremely simple, but it's like the only time I've ever tried to
make something scaling/responsive, so I like it.
- My calendar. It was a recent
addition, but I love how it turned out!
- The beach. Nothing
more than an experiment layering graphics I found on gifcities, but I
think it's really cozy and cute. :)
- My video archives. I tried to replicate
the YouTube layout from like 2005. Took a long time but I think the
effect is pretty cool.
So... what are some of my goals for the coming year, from January 26th,
2022, to January 26th, 2023? Well... I'd like to do some stuff with my
OCs, even if the projects are very small. I'm working on a very simple
HTML dressup game right now, for example. I would like to play around a
little bit more with JavaScript, and make some fun little gadgets or
pages for people to mess with. OH... and make some more graphics!! Those
are my goals for this next year on NeoCities. :)
And... well.... there's one other thing I want to say on this page, even
though it's not really related to my NeoCities anniversary... um, some
of you may (or may not) notice a very slight change on my homepage as of
today... which is, namely, this:
→
/)__(\ Um...!! That's all for now!! I've been trying to figure out the
perfect time to do this, but... I figured why not do it on an important
day anyway...? Well, at any rate... thank you very much to everybody who
has visited my site in the last year! I hope that you have found a
little bit of inspiration or fun here! Please feel free to join me,
starting today, on my journey to my second NeoCities anniversary! I hope
to see you there!!!
